Care home volunteering, does it count?

I am in sixth form college at the moment and would like to study medicine, I know that work experience is needed, so during the most recent summer holidays I started going to a Care Home for sufferers of dementia (i.e. alzheimer's) but because of bad timetabling it means I do not have any free days where i can go, except the weekend, where i work and want to do other work placements. Could i still put this on my personal statement, even though i only had half a dozen visits or should i try and get another similar placement somewhere more convenient?
