Someone care to tell me where this whole "black women are masculine" term came from?

I'm pretty sure it came from men who aren't equal in strength as black women therefore become intimidated by them. It makes them feel better about their shortened masculinity to say that black women are masculine when in reality most black women are just stronger than some men of other races.
