Fiance's ex aults son; then loses custody and throws out all of son's belongings...sue for damages? (NY)?

She can't sue her ex for a court order issued by a judge, he's not at fault for that. So, the job, travel expenses, and fuel costs cannot be reimbursed at all. Does she have proof all the items thrown out were solely purchased by her? If not. She has no suit in that regard either. More than likely its just a majorly bad situation
